Dream Drought

Dance of Dreams - Acrylic on canvas by Josephine

A friend once told me that our dreams are sort of premonitions to reality. We don't exactly remember the dream but it feels like it's already been experienced by our minds, and our minds tell us it's a feeling of deja vu; a sensation of vague familiarity. But why are there dreams that we do remember? Notice how those that we remember tend to be strange, unreal, and well, dreamy? I'm not an expert on dreams or whatever, but here's my take: we remember them because they simply are weird enough to happen in the real world; it stands out like a green apple among red ones! (American Idol 10's Brett reference. Haha.)

I think the subconscious dictates most of what our Mr. Sandman brings into our sleep. In the same way, bothersome thoughts and other worries do the same. So do the entire spectrum of feelings we experience each day, especially those that surface easily. Here's a conversation I had with my best buddy last night (well it was mostly me talking hahaha):

ME:
OMG I had the weirdest of dreams last Tuesday. I was in this waiting room with plenty other people. It was pretty chill so pretty sure it wasn't a hospital waiting room. It wasn't a hotel lobby, too. Maybe an office, I dunno. Tapos after my business there, whatever that was, I was on my way out when I turned to look back and someone caught my eye. Shane, as in McCutcheon of The L Word hahahaha, was sitting there; she had long hair and all, girl na girl, ateh!
BUD:
hahaha ang creative naman ng dream mo!
ME:
I creased my forehead in wonder and she formed a phone with her right hand and mouthed at me: "Call me?" And then I was shocked. (Like, in the dream and when I woke up haha) Tas I snorted and dismissed what she just did and mouthed back, "Tss, trust me. I'm not your type!" =)) WHAT THE DUCK RIGHT =))

And! It doesn't end there, okay. Hahaha. I went out of the room, into a sunny sidewalk, and guess who meets me at the door: Tina and Bette. O_O Hahahahahaha! I hugged them both nang sabay and said in a happy sing-song voice, "I love you!" =)) And then Bette asked: "How was your day?" I answered this: "Okay lang!" And then Tina interjects, craning her head over my shoulder, towards the inside of the room I was just in, frowned, and said: "Were you talking to Shane again?" I said, "Not really. She asked me to call her but I said I wasn't her type, for sure. So no, we didn't "talk" talk."

Poof! I woke up.
What's up with that? Haha! I need to get my laptop fixed, ASAP! I have seasons of Dexter, The Big Bang Theory, The L Word, Modern Family, 24, and uh, yeah that's about it. And tons of movies, too! *sigh*

Oh, and while we're at the topic of dreams, I suddenly felt sad. Not only because I heard of the news about the magnitude 8.9 earthquake and tsunami in Japan as I am writing this now, it's overwhelmingly scary! But also because I recently stumbled upon The Bull Runner's entry about its upcoming Dream Marathon! It's not a race per se, but a marathon designed for first time marathoners, running after that dream! My dad's first marathon was last year, under the same organizer. He inspired me so much that I swore I would join this year's. But thesis, practicum, and pretty much just school, in general, happened. Again, I swear I will run a full marathon, all 42 KM of it!
